September/October

Well, by the time you read this the raffle is a wrap and have our next fundraiser kicking off. The raffle, while successful, could have done better, we will rethink that one.

I know we all dislike fundraising but unfortunately we have no choice. I have done do much fundraising and "begging" at businesses that they run when they see me coming. It's difficult I know and you cringe when you get another fundraiser tossed at you but it is for the health of the club and benefits EVERY skater. It is important that all members
participate in each endeavor. I thank you all ahead of time for your help.

We are currently doing a fast and furious pie and cookie dough sale. The pies will be here BEFORE Thanksgiving. They can be kept in the freezer and heated up to serve to guests during the holidays. This is a terrific product that the Startletts sold last year and the feedback about the quality was superb. The cookie dough is the same company we have used in the past. Many folks liked giving the tubs of frozen dough as Christmas presents. The pies will arrive the week before
Thanksgiving and the dough will arrive two weeks prior to Christmas.

If you are already selling pies for another group please sell the dough. We make a high return on these products so please "sell, sell, sell" in the few short weeks that we run this sale. I will be looking for volunteers for the day the pies and dough comes in to sort and tag. Please call me to offer help. I can use many hands!! (508-237-1621) Depending on the success of the pie and dough sale that should be our last "sale" of the year.

Hopefully our last fundraiser of the year is a "Breaking Out of The Winter Blues" Party and Auction. Please read more about this exciting event on page 3!

Here are the key jobs we fill each year through our election of Officers and Board members (not listed in order of importance, as they are all important!).
President Chair of our monthly meetings, primary point of contact between the Club and the rink and coordinator of our efforts, the President follows up with all of the officers and committee heads to ensure that we do what we intend to do.
Vice President Steps in as overseer of the Club's activities in the absence of the President, and takes on special responsibilities from time to time, such as being liaison with the Synchro teams and being involved with special events.
Secretary Takes and maintains the minutes of our meetings and is the repository of most of the Club's formal documents.
Treasurer Keeper of the clubs funds, and responsible for paying the Club's bills, the Treasurer works with all of the committees and officers, as well as our accountants, to keep us financially fit.
Membership Accounts Chair The membership chair is responsible for the billing, collection and accounting for our contract, walk on and synchro activities ( with the assistance of volunteers for the various syncro teams). This key job covers a big chunk of our revenues.
Fundraising Chair Responsible for initiating much of our fundraising activities, such as raffles, and cookie dough sale, this is one of the key jobs in our organization. Additionally, the Fundraising Chair coordinates our other fundraising activities involving the synchro teams and the show for example, to keep us from running into one another.
CMA Board of Directors Representatives As one of the "owners" of the rink we are entitled to two board positions on the Charles Moore Arena Board of Directors. The CMA board has fiduciary responsibility for the well being of the rink. These two positions act for CMA and as liaison for the club. The term of office is two years, with one representative being elected each year.
